Our corporate mission is to have a positive and sustainable impact on our environment by placing the right person in the right role every time. Not only are we the most experienced firm recruiting in these spaces across Australia and New Zealand, but we helped pioneer the junction between sustainability and business.
Talent Nation leverages unrivalled client and candidate networks to deliver exceptional outcomes and believe in giving back to communities through our Three Pillars of Sustainability Strategy: Positive Environmental Impact, Positive Social Impact and Business as a Force for Good
Our giveback goals were first recognised in 2015 when we became the first recruitment company in Australia and New Zealand to gain B Corp certification. Since then, we have retained our certification, one of only a handful of companies to certify 4 times, and continue to assist in growing the B Corp movement to inspire action among other B Corps and new businesses. Our contribution to community was most recently recognised by the Recruitment Consulting and Staffing Association in 2023 when we were recognised as the leading agency in Australia for “Excellence in Social Purpose”.
Positive Environmental Impact
Talent Nation is committed to managing and creating positive environmental impact wherever we operate. We advocate for biodiversity and natural heritage conservation. In 2019, Talent Nation committed to becoming Net Zero by 2030 participating in the Global B-Corp pledge. In 2022 the B Corp Net Zero 2030 pledge evolved for companies with fewer than 500 employees to participation in the B Corp Climate Collective through the SME Climate Hub. Talent Nation’s SME Climate Commitment recognises that climate change poses a threat to the economy, nature and society at large. As a result, Talent Nation has committed to take action immediately in order to; halve our greenhouse gas emissions before 2030, achieve net zero emissions before 2050 and disclose our progress on a yearly basis.
As Australia’s leading sustainability and environmental recruitment agency, we believe that actions speak louder than words, so we achieved Climate Active certification for the first time in 2021. This certification holds us accountable to our commitment of becoming a Net Zero organisation. When you work with us, you are safe in the knowledge that you are engaging a carbon neutral organisation which invests in local carbon offset projects such as the Karlantijpa North Savanna Burning project. These investments in ACCU’s from the Aboriginal Carbon Foundation allow Talent Nation to invest in carbon farming projects that support rangers and Traditional Owners manage country, take action on climate change and strengthen the Australian economy.
Our Positive Environmental Impact Pillar aligns to SDG 13 “Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts” and SDG 15 “Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.”
Positive Social Impact
At Talent Nation we want to create positive social change through everything we do. We pride ourselves on our open, inclusive and collaborative culture, not only as a place to work, but also in the way we influence and work with our clients, candidates, partners and the wider community.
We don’t shy away from complex social issues because we know that for transformational change to happen, we need to challenge the status quo. That’s why our long-standing partnership with One Girl is so important to us. One Girl has a mission to support young women and girls to break down the barriers they face in accessing quality education. We walk together to create a better future and sustainable planet for communities in Africa and the Pacific region.
“I’m so thrilled that Talent Nation is part of our tribe, you have been truly supportive. I hope that together we will continue to make a difference in the lives of young women and girls around the world.” Dr Chrisanta Muli – CEO One Girl
As a Participant of the UN Global Compact, we stand by responsible business practices, combined with collaboration and innovation, drive powerful change in markets and societies – proving that principals and profits go hand in hand.
Our Positive Social Impact Pillar aligns to SDG 4 “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” and SDG 5 “Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls”
Business as a Force for Good
Talent Nation is part of a growing community of mission-focused organisations from all over the world, reinventing business by balancing people and the planet with profit. As one of the founding Australian companies to become a certified B Corporation through B Lab, we voluntarily meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
Our Social Procurement framework is central to our work as a sustainability recruitment agency, and we actively seek ways to give back to our communities through pro-bono services to organisations in the Not for Profit and Social Enterprise sectors. Put simply, B Corp is to businesses what fair trade is to coffee – it represents our commitment to using business as a force for good.
We have always been committed to meeting a higher standard of accountability to our planet. To further support this, we have made a commitment to give 1% of our gross sales each year to approved non-profit partners dedicated to the restoration and preservation of our world. 1% for the Planet is a global movement, bringing like-minded businesses and individuals together so that collectively they can be a more powerful source in solving the world’s problems.
Our Business as a Force for Good Pillar aligns to SDG 8 “Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all” and SDG 17 “Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development”
