Our client is a leading environmental testing and laboratory services provider with well-established laboratory operations globally.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Regional Leadership Team, you will take overall responsibility for a well-established environmental laboratory operation, leading teams across laboratory, field, customer service and administration functions. With accountability for operational performance, people leadership and commercial outcomes, you will play a critical role in driving efficiency, strengthening client relationships and delivering sustainable business growth.

This role is ideally suited to a dynamic and experienced leader who thrives on building high-performing teams, enhancing operational capability and creating exceptional customer outcomes. Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Lead the day-to-day operations of a large environmental laboratory business.
  • Drive revenue growth through business development and customer engagement.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, industry stakeholders and regulators.
  • Improve operational efficiency, turnaround times and service delivery.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and accountability across multiple teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Ensure high standards of quality, safety, compliance and customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with technical and commercial teams to expand services and capabilities.
About You
You are a commercially minded environmental laboratory leader with strong operational and people management skills. Comfortable leading change and challenging the status quo, you build accountability, develop high-performing teams and foster strong stakeholder relationships.

You bring a proactive, results-focused approach and understand how to align operational performance with market opportunities. Experience in Australian or New Zealand environmental laboratory operations, particularly in quality systems, laboratory optimisation and business growth is required.

Required Skills and Proficiencies
  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Analytical Chemistry or a related discipline.
  • Proven leadership experience within an environmental laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and improving business performance.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental testing services, quality systems and laboratory operations.
  • Business development, stakeholder engagement and client relationship management experience.
  • Experience improving efficiency, turnaround times and service delivery outcomes.
  • Strong commercial, financial and strategic capability.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and international environment.
