The Company
Established in 2020 with joint Australian and New Zealand ownership, Australia Carbon Farming Pty Limited (ACF), was founded by individuals committed to addressing the global climate crisis. As part of the New Zealand Carbon Farming Group, ACF aims to preserve the planet by growing trees and regenerating forests into carbon sinks. They are the largest provider of carbon credits in Australasia and supply these credits through New Zealand's Emissions Trading Scheme, as well as Australia's Carbon Credit Scheme and voluntary markets.

The Role
Our client Australia Carbon Farming is currently expanding in Australia and a Relationship/Regional Business Development Manager based in NSW, dedicated to environmental improvement and sustainable agriculture. Supported by the Australian CEO and a NZ team, the role involves making investments in regional economies, partnering with local nurseries, and supporting plantation establishment services.

As a major carbon credit provider in Australasia under New Zealand's Emissions Trading Scheme, the company supplies carbon credits directly to companies with significant carbon abatement needs. It aims to replicate this success in Australia through the Australian Carbon Credit Scheme and voluntary markets.

Through its lease partnership program, the company collaborates closely with First Nations people, farmers, production forest owners, and landowners, creating carbon farming opportunities. These initiatives not only supply carbon credits but also provide a supplementary income stream, addressing essential natural resource and farm enterprise objectives.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
  • Secure land and forest for generating Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) through business development.
  • Contribute to broader business development and sales initiatives, including new product development and new sales channels.
  • Facilitate land and forest owners' participation in the carbon economy via managed lease solutions.
  • Manage the organisation’s property sell-down program to optimise capital and estate value.
  • Support key sales processes, including pipeline management and approvals for land and lease acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to implement the business plan and develop new product and sales channels.
  • Establish key consultant/supplier/contractor relationships related to land and forest acquisition.
  • Ensure project registration and ACCU issuance in coordination with the Carbon Services Manager.
  • Manage existing professional relationships and cultivate new ones as needed.

The Relationship/Regional Business Development Manager will need to share ACF’s passion for working hand-in-hand with farmers and landowners to create a more sustainable future. Your ability to build authentic relationships and communicate effectively will be crucial as you work alongside farmers and landowners to develop tailored solutions that align with their goals and values.

Required Skills and Proficiencies
  • 5+ years’ experience in ideally Beef Grazing, Agriculture more broadly, Sales in either Rural Real Estate or Heavy Farm Machinery, Sustainable Agriculture and/or Nature Based Solutions.  
  • Strong rural community engagement, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced in commercial negotiations and property transactions, particularly in agriculture or commercial sectors.
  • People management experience.
  • Proven skills in written communication and report writing.
Desired Skills
  • Preferably tertiary qualifications in agriculture, agribusiness, or natural resource management.
  • Expertise in budget development and management.
  • Proficient in use of core business software applications, especially in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Experienced in field data capture methods and equipment, including GIS and GPS.
  • Understanding of relational geo-databases and data management.
  • Experience leading field/logistical operations.
