The Company
Our client, APA Group, is a leading Australian energy infrastructure business. They own and/or manage and operate a diverse, $21 billion portfolio of gas, electricity, solar and wind assets.

Consistent with their purpose to strengthen communities through responsible energy, they deliver approximately half of the nation’s gas usage and connect Victoria with South Australia and New South Wales with Queensland through their investments in electricity transmission assets. They are also one of the largest owners and operators of renewable power generation assets in Australia, with wind and solar projects across the country. Their operations span every mainland state and territory in the country and they employ more than 1900 people.

The Role
Reporting to the Group Emissions Manager, this role will lead the APA Group Methane Action Plan, provide emissions reduction subject matter expertise across APA business units (gas infrastructure) and support methane measurement and reporting.
  
Key responsibilities:
  • Support the Group Emissions Manager with ongoing management and evolution of the climate strategy (climate transition plan).
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise and guidance across the business in enhancing APA’s methane monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) including the Oil Gas and Methane Partnership and other relevant methane reporting standards.
  • Ongoing research, benchmarking, and technology readiness assessment of best practice emission reduction technologies.
  • Preparing research reports and updates to support business leadership and management stay across emerging emission reduction issues and trends.
  • Support the Group Emissions Manager with ongoing management and evolution of the Emissions Reduction Roadmap to support efficient delivery of portfolio emission reductions in line with the Climate Transition Plan.
  • Support preparation of quarterly emissions management reports for APA’s Net Zero governance forums
  • Manage APA’s 100% renewable electricity commitment, working with procurement, to acquire and surrender large-scale generation certificates or equivalent.
About you
You will bring a strong practical understanding of emissions reduction technology and decarbonisation coupled with a sound understanding of key decarbonisation concepts.

Additionally, you will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant work experience in a related discipline such as commerce, engineering, climate science.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in emission reduction related roles.
  • Strong understanding of emissions reduction technologies specific to energy infrastructure in particular methane emissions.
  • Demonstratable knowledge and experience of methane frameworks, such as OGMP 2.0 (desirable).
  • Sound understanding of the climate change policy landscape impacting emissions reduction.
  • Proven collaboration and influencing skills with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of attention to detail.
